Tiling an unheated 3-season room Posted by Ed on June 14th, 2004 10:48 AM
Hey all you tile experts out there. I'm going to tile an unheated 3-season room. This is directly on the concrete slab with a trench foundation all around. I've tiled quite a few bathrooms, kitchens, so I'm somewhat comfortable with that, but do you have any hints/tips for this type of job. I'm in the Chicago burbs so these is going to be cold weather hitting this thing. I'm going to have a hot-tub in there so I'll use it in the winter but only for the hot-tub so I don't need any heat (after all, people use them even outside all year).
Couple specific questions: the guy didn't do a great job on the cement - will floor levelers work for this kind of job and not break down with the cold? What about the edges where I'll be tiling partly over the foundation wall and partly over the concrete floor - will I have tiles cracking between the two? Should I put some leverer and maybe some kind of mesh over the joint there? Any special mortar? Special grout?
Sorry it's so long but thanks alot. Ed Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
