Unfortunately there is no easy way to remove carpet adhesive. I would suggest using a heat gun and lots of "elbow grease" with a stiff scraper. When you get as much as possible off (or you get tired of the work involved), you can purchase adhesive remover by the gallon available at Home Depot, Lowes, and most home improvement stores. Follow instructions on the can and you should be able to get "most" of it off.
