This is most likely due to the draining bath water warming the PVC pipes, causing them to expand which when they slide against the wood floor joists will give off a crackling, woody kind of sound. PVC, which is a good material for draining water, should be suspended from touching wood surfaces for this reason. Unfortunately, its much easier for plummers to just let the pipe rest on the wood. If you have an unfinished basement or crawl space, you can try to suspend them from ouching any wood by using plummers tape or strap.
