Asbestos in ceiling drywall

I have a question.....

My parents are doing some remodeling in the kitchen themselves. My dad found some asbestos in part of the ceiling he ripped out. He thinks the rest of the ceiling has it too, but only plans on removing part of the ceiling.

What should he do? Remove it?
