Carlos is right that contact cement is the correct adhesive to apply laminate on most nonpourous surfaces. Be sure to coat both surfaces and allow it to dry to tack. Carefully position the laminate because once it grabs, you will not be able to move it. Lots of us use shims or spacers to keep the materials apart until we are ready to adhere. Most laminate requires trimming after application. A laminate cutter for a router, or even sanding the edges will work.
