Its not my experise, so hopefully a HVAC person will add to this. My understanding is tht line sets should be brazed, not soldered, but that adding to the line set is OK. Also, you need to have the refrigerent recovered and replaced. This requires a certified technician and equipment. As a result, this is not generally a DIY project.
