Removing Foam Rubber Padding From Cement Floor Posted by MQOQ on June 19th, 2004 03:39 AM In reply to Removing carpet padding by Henry in MI on July 14th, 1998 06:11 PM [Go to top of thread]
Okay Folks-
I've read the messages regarding this topic--I read about a "mysterious" machine that might help--- (though there was no name of this machine whatsoever---a sander? an industrial heat gun? a magic wand?), and I read about the paint thinner as well (however the articles discussing the paint thinner seemed vague). As the subject title of my message indicates....I am going to attempt to remove the foam rubber (a.k.a. carpet padding) that was beneath the carpet from my cement floor.
To be absolutely clear here-- the carpet has been pulled up, what remains are areas of foam rubber ( and I imagine glue as well). The floor underneath is cement and the area is 12X15.
Now what I am wondering is ---how do I go about getting this rubber up/off the cement floor. If there is a machine that will help, please be explicit about it's name, and where I might be able to buy/rent one. If paint thinner is the solution, please tell me what type and how it should be applied.
If there are any other suggestions , I am open to them, so long as they are clear and concise.
I am seeking practical and thoughtful advice--I want in on the secret!
thank you for your time. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
