I think Mike was on the right track, but here is more you can do. With the studs exposed, put up the sound board. Then sound isolation strips - Z-strips - horizontally screwed to the studs. Then the 5/8" drywall screwed to them so that the drywall screws do not hit the studs. Tape and fill the drywall but seal the sides and ceiling with caulk.
If you are in Canada you can get Safe-N-Sound insulation which provides both thermal and sound insulation. Put that between the studs when they are exposed. I hear that a similar product will become available at home centers in the USA but I have not eeen it. This stuff is much better at sound insulation than regular thermal insulation.
Beyond that you would have to build another wall on your side. With the studs exposed, put another row of studs alternating with the existing studs. Interleave the insulation between and install 5/8" drywall on your side.
