Perhaps I should look less at the small imperfections of this house. I find the longer I live in it the more I appreciate it's "character". Things like bumpy plaster and plain, butt-jointed trim just seem to be a part of it's charm. I have chosen a satin finish paint for the walls in the hope that it will minimize the imperfections yet still be washable. I immediately decided to keep the top-of- the-line 1950's metal cabinetry in the kitchen. They are well-made, still in excellent shape and provide all the storage I need (even a lazy susan cabinet in the corner). A painter advised me to use an epoxy enamel paint (in a well-ventilated area) to get that brand new finish they probably had 40-something years ago. I'm looking forward to the work and particularly to the outcome. I'm sure I'll be posting here a lot in the next year. Thanks for all your help. I'm sure it won't be the last time.
