We bought a very old house and tried to make a fire on a few occassions but most of the smoke comes into the lounge. My husband detected that the if he looks up the fireplace he can see the light outside. Should a fireplace be like that? He also mentioned there is no metle flap on the chimney, not sure what it is called.
Please help, it is winter again and would love to use my fireplace this winter. Lamees
