You are using sanded grout on narrow bathroom tiles. And that is the source of your problem. Sanded grouts are used on wider grout lines in floors. Sanded grout avoids shrinkage in larger joints and has a better appearance in these joints. Unsanded grout is used for joints less than 1/8 inch.
Work the unsanded grout into the joints and wipe off excess with the float, moving diagonally across tile. As the grout starts to dry forming a haze, start the cleaning process with a well wrung masons sponge, being careful not to remove material from the joints.
