don't use chlorine bleach...it will set the stain. If you haven't finished the deck, you can probably sand the stains out more easily than trying to chemically remove them. Iron stains can be removed by oxalic acid....it is available at paint or hardware stores. Read the cautions. Also, the grocery store detergent Zud is a mild oxalic formula that you can use with patience. Before you treat your new deck, find the May 02 Cons Rept issue to see what they say about deck stains, treatments etc., especially their remarks about Thompson's Water Seal. Luck, Kizmet
