I have a friend who is a first-time pool owner. Living in southern Florida, because we get heavy downfalls of rain daily, his pool nearly overflows onto his lanai and he has to drain it from keeping this from happening. He saiys the floor of the lanai has that strip which acts like a drain but would not be adequate because of the amount it rains in a short time. The floor is slightly slanted TOWARD the house not away from it and the slider threshhold into the house is only a couple of inches.
He is now sorry he got the pool, because he feels like he could never go anywhere for a few days. His words, "It's like taking care of a child." If he went out of town for a few days and came back he fears he'd find a flood. So he has to stay home every day to maks sure he drains off the pool after the hard rain. Last summer he said it rained extremely hard everyday fo almost 3 months.
I know many people who have pools and they have never complained of this problem.
