bracing a trailer home to move it Posted by Em on July 4th, 2004 02:53 PM In reply to Remodeling a mobile home by Mark Crescitelli on June 17th, 1997 01:21 AM [Go to top of thread]
We bought an /86 14'x68' trailer home with intent to move it to a remote, lake location and live in for retirement. Passed professional inspection before buying and had advised inspector we wanted to move it. When lifted by hitch to move, a wall bowed out a bit so driver unhooked and advised not to move it. He told us that the support beam under is only 77 inches wide, running length, down centre ,so sides would not be supported and floor and side walls would buckle. We just finished remodelling it,put in laminated wood floor etc and cannot afford to walk away from it, it has to be moved from site and do not want to ruin floors or paint jobs by bracing with 4x4's on inside. Can anyone tell us how we could brace the whole thing on outside-that wouldn't be too expensive, or some other way to secure floor and walls to move over an unserviced road.(We are in BC Canada and no air float movers here) Thankyou!
