Yesterday we noticed water dripping from the roof. So in inspecting the AC in the attic I found the metal tray(2.5inch high) was full of water. Water eventully dripped out of the pan into the roof and hence dripped in the rooms below. Technicain came and immediatelly reported the evaporator unit defective, rusty. Quoted me $1577 to replace it.
Questions : Why did the water overfolw from the evaporator? Why did the water did not drain below into the bathrooms? Why did the limit switch malfunction, my understanding is there is a limt switch which should prevent AC from running if water is overflowing?
