I have some masonary skills and would like to build a wood and coal burning fireplace in my cabin. I have never build a chimney and don't know exactly how to lay up the firebricks inside the fire box, what size the normal firebox is and how to I construct the chimney, put in the damper, etc. Anyone who can assist me I would greatly appreciate it. I am a do-it-yourselfer and have built several houses, but not any fireplaces. I have to build it from the ground up on a tight budget, and I would appreciate any help I can get from anyone who knows about this subject.
