After several floods caused by loss of power I installed a water powered backup pump. It has kicked in several times with good results, once for four days during a power outage (and I pump water about every 10 minutes). The pump I have was made by DELCOR in Detroit, MI. I don't think they are in business now but there are other brands. My total cost was 129.00 and I did the installation myself. The only requirement is that you have city water.
