I use it a lot on wood repairs. But I dig out the punky wood and harden the remainder with Minwax Wood Hardener resin. Let that cure overnight and then apply the Bondo.
Minwax makes a similar product but it is so expensive that few stores carry it. Local HDs are now carrying Bondo.
