I too, wished we had seen these compaints before purchasing (wasting) our money on Behr!
We recently had sanded our 7 year old deck, and were so pleased with the the character of the (treated) wood grain, that came through, we wanted to preserve it with a semi-transparent stain that would protect and enhance the grain. What we ended up with, instead, was a bright dijon-coloured thick-as-cream coverage that went on like a solid and absolutely "smothered" out any hint of wood grain. It was so putrid, our kids begged Dad that they would offer up their allowances to get him to change it.
My husband niavely believed that the stain would become "clear" again once it dried. I very much had my doubts.
As, it turned out (sadly!) I was right, and my husband went back to Home Depot with the remaining bucket, a digital photogragh, and the Behr colour sample sheet to complain. Home Depot did not seem to think there was anything wrong with the product (???) but offered to re-mix the gallon we brought back to paint over and "fix" the solid coloured horror on our deck.
Interestingly, THIS bucket did go on like a stain unlike the first. Obviuosly the other one was a bad batch or incorrectly mixed.
Unfortunately this newly mixed version only served to tone down the bright yellow tones of it's predesessor (it's now a unseemly solid orangy colour) and our beautiful wood grain is still lost.
If integrity were the rule of the land either Home Depot or Behr would compensate us for the cost of the stain, the expense of the sander we rented from Home Depot, our time, and the expense we will be incurring when we, again, restrip and restain the deck all over again.
