I have purchased a new home and after 3 months the drywall along the outside of the drywall is cracking along every rafter and most importantly the major truss. The builder has told me the truss is off by a 1/4 inch. They have stated that he will jack the truss up and put in a shim. Is the a correct procedure? Will it fix the problem that is occuring throughout the entire house, including the bowed walls? I told the builder that I want an engineer to look at it before anyone puts a finger on the work.
