Well, I made some remarks about the truss lift issue and while I do not live in California (anymore)I do understand the issue somewhat.
First, I think it is a shame that the builder didn't forsee the problem but he did offer and and is correcting it...
Second, what is even more of a shame is that you and your wife are ready to throw the baby out with the bath water because you realized your house had some flaws. Well NO house is ever built perfect and this builder, his truss company engineers and everyone else involved seems to be taking whatever steps necessary to create that "perfect" house which it appears as of this writing someone else is going to possess because you and your wife simply abandoned it.
Yes, there is aggravation.
Yes, there are damages.
But from what I read THIS builder is going to extraordinary lengths to correct what is otherwise a minor and aggravating problem.
I have nothing to dispute in tomh's advice.
It is spot on.
I AM objecting to how the Woods have reacted to this otherwise 'minor' issue of truss lift but that is certainly their perogative since it IS their house.
MY view is that whomever ends up owning this house NEXT is going to be the REAL winner here...and I WISH it was going to be ME.
God's speed.
GREAT advice from tomh.
GREAT patience by the WOODS family.
GREAT home for the lucky next owner....
