finishing pine kitchen table

i want to distress my unfinished pine kitchen table then stain. Want to know what the best stain to use is so that the distress marks and dents show through stain black or real dark in color. plan on painting the legs of the table black, what paint best for that? having hard time getting answer anywhere on how to do...help...
