when you say GUTTED, I am assuming you are removing the wallboard also. if the tub is fiberglas or sheet metal it is light enough to get over the pipes, if cast iron, I would remove the pipes to prevent possible damage to them as a cast iron tub is @ 300 pounds. a word of caution, many older tubs were larger in height, length, and width than the "standard" sizes stocked by big box and plumbing stores. measure your old tub to make sure you get the right size to fit your opening. a plumbing supply house will be able to order the older sizes for you. I had that problem a few years back and was able to order and received the new cast iron tub in 2 weeks. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
