Oozing Tile - Is it the fixture or water behind the wall?

Posted by Mrs. Beer on July 16th, 2004 11:31 PM

Hello all you experts...every heard of such a thing? I walked into my bathroom to see gray colored gooey adhesive dripping out of the wall tile into my tub. But just from 2 tiles nearest to the mixing valve. We had the old shower head and old handles replaced with a mixing valve fixture by a plumber because it was leaking into the basement after every shower. Then we had a handyman in to replace the tile where the hole was by the fixtures, not the whole wall. The man that repaired it is dumbfounded as are we. What the heck is making it ooze out? More water from somewhere or the fixture is defective? When he took some of the tiles off, it was gooey where the others had dried hard and stayed in place. Your thoughts? Thanks!
