Carpenter Ants & Siding

Posted by Laurie on July 17th, 2004 09:23 PM

We started to prep to paint the exterior of our house and found Carpenter Ants in the siding, massive nests. We sprayed and pulled 5 of the boards off that have some damamge and are going to have to be replaced. How can we know if they are in the frame of the home w/o tearing everything apart (taking off the plywood)?

I read that they are lazy and that they only nest in rotten wood....so, we really shouldn't have to worry about the frame (1969, no damage to plywood)???

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!!!!!
