This is by far the worst product I have ever used. In the past we have used Super Deck stain on our deck and have never had a problem. We have been very satisfied with the results. Unfortuntly in our busy world we tend to look for convience and quick results, which was the case when I was in Home Depot recently. I noticed they had on sale their five gallon can of deck sealant and I fiqured I could save myself a trip to our reliable paint store and purchased it. Boy, was I sorry. After following the advice of the paint expert at the Home Depot, I prepared and stained my deck. Three days later the deck was still not dry and the surface was tacky, tar like. This was also the case one week after staining the deck. When I called the technical support line provided on the Behrs can, the assistant on the line was rude and not very helpful at all. He proceeded to tell me that I had applied the product incorrectly, even though this was the way Home Depot said to apply it, and that the deck needed to be stripped and power washed. Well, over $200 later my deck is a mess. We were unable to fully remove the stain. At this point our only alternative is to use a transparent stain on the deck, exactly what I did not want to do.
I have tried to contact Behrs, but have yet to here a response from them.
I write this letter, so that people can use the information provided to make a better choice when purchasing a product to finish their deck. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
