I burn a wood stove. On extra cool nights when I bank the stove down and set the air vents so that I have a simmering fire to burn all night, the smoke will vaporize heavily and drops will form almost as soon as the smoke clears the chimney. If a breeze is blowing towards the house from the chimney, those drops hit the house and stain the vinyl siding. If I'm on top of things and clean the siding as soon as warm weather comes, the creasote will come off with some power washing with vinyl siding cleaner. This year, however, I allowed the creasote to bake on with the summer sun. No cleaner, even paint thinner, will move it. I'm faced with replacing the siding unless someone has an answer. Has anyone faced the same problem?
