one last WARNING. get copies of payments to all sub contractors prior to final payment to the prime contractor. it is not unusuall for some contractors to get the money from you and later you have a lein on the house from a sub who was not paid by the prime contractor. one wa y to insure all payuments are made is to keep an itemized list of all work performed and by whom, either sub contractors of employees of the prime contractor. you should have no problems if you find a reputable prime contractor. be wary of someone who you find from a flyer on the mailbox or add on the BB in a store.
