Not much to add to Carls comments. Glazing putty is easy to use once you get the hang of it. Be sure to paint the compound after it has set a few days. Glazing compound is meant to stay slightly plyable and paint protects it. Usually a good oil base is used to paint the compound. Old timers will tell you to carry the paint slightly onto the glass to seal.
