In Central Florida.....We get nearly 90 thunderstorm days a year........I live in-town and use a multi-layered "passive" action......

A WHOLE HOUSE surge protector....installed in the main panel......is easy cheap protection......

The Main panel should be Grounded with two ground rods.......and plumbing bonded to those ground rods......

Then every electronic device should have a quality surge protector plugged into a GROUNDed outlet.....the surge protector must be grounded for it to work......

And the phone line or cable needs protection too..........

PASSIVE....It's always there working Rain or Shine.......I DON'T unplug or even discontinue using the equipment during the frequent storms..........
