Both of your replies have made sense to me and i will consider the whole house surge protector. But one more question? Why 2 grounding rods? My current panel has an earth brass rod that is grounded. I spose the water pipe connection just adds further protection against ground faults. BTW I'm also going to hook up my phone line into the current surge protector that I'm using now. Thanks again, Tom
