some tips... Posted by pAiNt_pRo V.2.0. on August 2nd, 2004 03:45 AM In reply to peeling paint in bathroom , Wall &ceiling by gpega51 on August 1st, 2004 01:39 PM [Go to top of thread]
Alrite....
The primer sounds good. You should stay away from flat paint in a bathroom all together. I would recomend a semigloss finish.
Flat paint has larger pigment particles, and allows moisture to get underneath. In a high-moisture area (kitchen, bath) its good to have a finish with finer pigment particles to keep the moisture out. Also make sure you let it cure properly before subjecting it to any type of moisture.
Another tip:
Take a piece of 220 grit sand paper, and just lightly sand the wall, as if you were washing it with the sand paper. Then try a primer made by Glidden called "Gripper."
Allow it to dry for 4 hours, and put a semi gloss paint on top...let that sit, with NO moisture for at least 24 hours.
You should not have any problems after that!
Hope this helps you out some....
