Or sometimes a hair dryer will work......

Try not to tear the paper.....start from an edge and apply the heat and use a scraper/putty knife to start to loosen the contact paper.....

Apply the heat and pull.....double the paper over on the adhesive and continue to heat and pull......

You'll need a solvent to remove the remaining adhesive from from the wall.
