I assume you mean that the metal casement will need to be primed with an oil-based paint (rather than wiped down with oil).

Thanks for that advice, I wouldn't have thought of it, nor would I probably have read the directions on the DAP 33 to find this out (assuming it is on the directions at all).

At least until it was too late.

And yes, the re-glazing will have to be done "in place". Still wondering if the DAP is water-soluble and if water can be used to achieve a smooth finish, or if a solvant like mineral spirits needs to be used.

Also, the shape of the modified putty knife still escapes me. Is there a way to post pictures on this web-site ?
