Washer drain hose is 5ft high

The drain hose for my washer goes up about 62 inches before it comes down into an open pipe about 48" off the ground.

Is that normal? The 3-4 inch pipes run about 2 feet off the floor.

If its not normal, what can I do? How do I tap a 1 inch drain hose into a 4inch pipe?
