We bought a house about a year and a half ago. We started ripping out the closet shelves and noticed water damage in the drywall. The roof was replaced about eight months ago and water is no longer getting in there. We got a mold contractor and he wants to contain the room, send the mold to the lab, rip out the carpet and drywall. It will all cost about $3500.00.
I thought that mold requires a source of water to stay "live". Am I being ripped off here, or does this sound legitimate. Also, can I get my seller to pay. They obviously knew about it, but never disclosed the damage. They even tried to paint over it.
