Remember how the brick was laid for the house? Simply repeat the process.

Dig a base with footer depth proportional to the size of the proposed pit ie at least four footers, one on each corner, 6-12" deep, 6-12" square.
Lay 5 mill plastic in bottom
Place a 12" concrete block in each corner
Build wooden frame box for portion aboveground
Lay 1-8 - 1/4" steel rods in shape of pit
Fill 5-6" deep with 1/4-1/2" stone or rock
Pour footer, concrete blocks and base with concrete. 6" Min concrete depth
Smooth and level concrete base.
Lay firebrick near heat source
Lay finish brickwork.
