Maytag Neptune - should be sent there

I just moved into a house with a brand new Maytag Neptune. While I am relieved to know that mine is not the only one with the mold and smell problem, I am very disappointed that Maytag hasn't done more to alleviate the problems. Of course, I found this site after I called Maytag's service line, and they acted like they had never heard of this problem before (So they can still get the $129 service call flat fee, I presume.) Has anyone had any luck with the repair kit? Is it worth the trouble?
