Central Air Question

Posted by Homewrecker on September 6th, 2004 08:43 AM

I had a new AC system installed this spring. New unit and coilbox. There are two copper lines that go into the coilbox, one that is insulated and one that is bare (warm to the touch). The unit "seems" to functioning ok but I have noticed what appears to be a sticky black substance that is draining from the coilbox where the insulated line enters. There is not a large amount of this, but enough that it has made a stain that runs three or four inches down the side. I am concerned I have a slow freon leak and by next year when I am out of warranty this will cost me money to get repaired. Any wisdom out there?
