For years, I've wanted to find this song again, or piece together the words. I remember bits and pieces from an old record my dad played when we were kids (early 1950's...though the record was even older). It was a male singer with a country twang ... it might have been Arthur Godfrey, but may have been an earlier country/folk singer. I would pay a good price for a record if I could find one. I remember the whole tune so can sing the original tune accurately...given the words. Last verse said "Now the moral of this story is ????..take your shoes off outside your pappy's door. If the paw don't hear you comin' in, he won't lay down the law. And you won't have to worry 'cause there won't be ???? at all. I'll think of more...I'll ask my paw and my siblings. :)
