reflective insulation under carpet?

I bought a home with a crawl space, crawl space needs insulation but probably can't get contractor in before winter.

I've ordered new carpet and have already removed the old stuff. would laying down reflective insulation (bubble sandwiched between foil type) help insulate the floor?
