Just today my daughter spilled black acrylic latex enamel paint on our light blue nylon shag carpet, the paint went unnoticed for a short while and spread to about 7 inches in diameter. I thought for sure it would never come out!

I carefully scooped up the excess paint , trying not the spread it any further, then began blotting the area with a damp rag. The rag had to be rinsed of the paint several times. i then applied bissell steam cleaning spot remover solution and let it sit for about 10 minutes, then went over the area with a steam cleaner, the steam cleaner appeared to be spreading the paint so i switched to the small handheld steamer and worked fron the outside edges inward so it would not spread any further. I continued this for nearly 45 minutes and the stain was still very noticable and i was ready to give up....I dampened a clean rag and applied a small amount of acetone finger nail polish remover and the stain began to disappear! The stain left by the black paint hardly noticeable now!I've layed a damp cloth over the area (to keep it moist until i can get back to it) and am going to work on it some more tomorrow.

If you spill paint on carpet try to clean it immediately, if you let it dry it may never come out.

Do not POUR nail polish remover directly onto the carpet, as it may deteriorate the backing. Always apply the remover to a rag/cloth and dab or scrub in a circular motion.

i have also heard that nylon paint brush cleaning solution can be used to remove paint from nylon carpet but didn't have any on hand to try.

Hope this info helps someone else someday :-)
