A three inch hole is all that is needed for most exhaust fans. The ones I put in are closer to $50.00. There are two shopping points. Low noise (sones) and volume of air moved (Cubic Feet per Minute, CFM's). You can also get one with a light or two lights if you want a heat lamp.
