Creating basement out of existing crawl space

Our house is a 3 bedroom 1 bath ranch, built on a crawl. Looking to see approx cost to create basement out of existing crawl or to create a raised ranch by building onto existing crawl wall. Are either of these ideas even an option? Is is extremely costly? Where does one begin to find out more info? Also what is the average cost to "go up", to add an additional floor to an existing ranch home where one has an attic that could be stood up in. Any helpful info would be appreciated.
