I have an aerobic septic system in the house we recently purchased and while doing regular maintenance (getting ready for fall/winter) I thought I better check out the inside of the tank. I've been putting this one off. We had the tank pumped about 18 months ago.
While the air pump was running I lifted the top and was surprised to not see any bubbles in the main tank. I went back and found I had good air flow into the tank, and I could tell that the air was reaching the tank do the sound of rushing air while my head was halfway into the tank. I have a round tank with the sludge sectionin the middle (that's about all I know). I did see a leaf " gently blowing in the breeze" that fell into the tank which led me to be concerned that the air line may have a leak.
My question: How visible should the bubbles be in the main chamber? How can I tell if I need to do something?
