Soil is bought and sold in "yards" which is actually "cubic yards". Three inches of cover over 3500 sf translates to 32.4 cubic yards. I suggest that you have the load deposited in several smaller amounts at spaced locations to minimize the spreading job. This may cost a couple of extra bucks but by the time you start moving the dirt you will confirm that it was money well spent. Also, make sure that the locations are ready and accessible by a large truck before placing the order.
