In my opinion hydronic radiant (under floor or tile) heating is the absolute best and cost-effective heating solution for the long term. I live in NE region and my radiant system paid for itself within a couple years when compared with traditional baseboard or forced air systems common to this area. Furthermore, it is the most comfortable type of heating system. The initial installation costs can be heftier, but well worth the expense and extra effort. I have both tile areas and wood flooring and must say that the tile areas are the most comfortable but overall the entire house is more comfortable than any other traditional system I have had before.
