Microwave hum - no heat

** Sears built-in microwave model no 721.8994140. Recently it develops a loud "hum" and contents do not heat at all. Ideas as to possible problem? **

It could be a problem in the high voltage capacitor, diode, magnetron tube or possibly transformer.

I do not usually recommend homeowners attempt to work on microwaves them self as the capacitor can still carry a hefty electrical charge even after being unplugged. You might consider having a trained microwave oven technician look into it for you.
