Sconce Lighting- Wiring

Posted by Cathy on October 20th, 2004 02:35 PM

I just moved into an old house. The last owner removed some old antique sconces and replaced them with sconces (that are actually outside sconces) that do not have an on/ off switch and are not connected to a seperate switch.

The result is that these sconces are constantly on- and only stop giving off light if you unscrew the bulb.

I need to replace these very quickly- with sconces that have an on/off switch (as the walls are old plaster and I don't want to have to cut into the walls to install a switch)- but I am having trouble finding places that have sconces with switches or pull cords on them. Some places don't even say if the sconce has a switch or has to be wired to a seperate wall switch.

Does anyone know of a place with a large selection of sconces that are identified as having on/ off switches? Lowes only had one that I could see. Home depot had more but not very many.
