I am about to begin finishing my basement. My question relates to framing the walls. I plan on using liquid nails and a 22 caliber framing gun to secure the base plate. My question is how do I secure the top plate? My basement walls were poured 10' tall. I plan on using precut 2x4s for the framing. This would leave a large gape between the top plate and the floor joists. Is it necessary to attach the top plate or is affixing the base plate sufficient?
